Become professionally registered

IChemE is licenced to award various registrations on behalf of the Engineering Council, Science Council, Society for the Environment, ENGINEERS EUROPE, and the Environment Agency.

We are also an approved assessment entity for Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) registration.

We’ve summarised the registrations available to each of our membership grades below:

  • Student Members who have completed a year-long industrial placement may qualify for Engineering Technician (EngTech) registration. Contact regions@icheme.org for more details.
  • Technician Members are eligible to apply for Engineering Technician (EngTech) or Registered Science Technician (RSciTech)
  • current and prospective Associate Members may be eligible to apply for Incorporated Engineer (IEng)
  • prospective Chartered Members can apply for Chartered Engineer (CEng) and/or request to be assessed for Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) when making their application to Chartered Member
  • current Chartered Members and Fellows can also apply for (in addition to the above) Chartered Scientist (CSci), Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv), European Engineer (EUR ING) and/or Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme Lead Energy Assessor (ESOS LEA).
