Oil, Gas and Energy Transition Special Interest Group   - Committee Members

The Oil, Gas and Energy Transition Special Interest Group are recruiting three additional Committee Members to join the Committee. In addition to fulfilling the standard responsibilities outlined in the Committee Member role descriptor, these positions will each take on specific additional responsibilities to support the work and strategic objectives of the Group.

Oil, Gas and Energy Transition - Australia/NZ Regional Lead

  • Provide the Committee with their regional perspective
  • Bring regional developments to the global audience through webinars and articles
  • Connect with country boards to support local regional oil, gas and energy transition activities, including policy and Chemical Engineering education

Oil, Gas and Energy Transition -Professional Development & Skills Lead

  • Work with staff and members to develop member needs for oil gas and energy transition pathways
  • Assess relevant profession development resources to identify good practices and potential opportunities
  • Act as the focal point for energy transition related skills issues

Oil, Gas and Energy Transition - Technology Advisor 

  • Identify opportunities to share technology and industry developments for the benefit of members
  • Contribute to skills, knowledge and policy activities

Member Engagement Committee - Committee Members

The Member Engagement Committee (MEC) plays a vital role in shaping how IChemE connects with and supports its global membership and champions innovation, collaboration and knowledge-sharing across all engagement initiatives.  The committee is seeking one Associate Member and one Affiliate Memberone of whom must be based in the UK—as well as one UK‑based Student Member to join as active and visible committee members.

National Board Singapore - Committee Roles (Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Board Members x 7)

IChemE are recruiting for a number of positions for the Singapore National Board. Professional standards
Professional Reviewer for Chartered Chemical Engineer

Professional Reviewers for Chartered Chemical Engineer must be Chartered Chemical Engineers and hold CEng registration.  Working in tandem with another reviewer, they assess the competence and commitment of those wishing to becoming Chartered Member - Chartered Chemical Engineer (with or without CEng), which involves the assessment of documentary evidence and an interview.

New Zealand Board - Deputy Chair

IChemE are recruiting for a Deputy Chair for the New Zealand National Board.  You will be responsible for identifying strategic priorities for IChemE in New Zealand, supporting the Board of Trustees and Member Engagement Committee, providing oversight for university and corporate engagement and sharing good practice. Please note the description of Chair role is included in the role descriptor as Deputy Chair generally becomes Chair after one year.

Schools Challenge Day Engagement Volunteers

We currently have opportunities for volunteers to take part in School Challenge Days in certain locations.

DiscoverChemEngLIVE school challenge days are for students in Year 8 (S1/S2 Scotland) in UK schools to help them explore chemical engineering through an interactive activity day. Starting in Spring term 2026.

Up to 36 school students, working in teams of 6, are given the opportunity to build essential employability skills and explore the careers and skills used in chemical engineering. The workshops are available for mainstream, state-funded secondary schools schools within Scotland, Merseyside, Cheshire, North East, Yorkshire and the Humber.

Young Peoples Engagement Volunteers

IChemE Student Design Prize Volunteer Judge Opportunity – Australasia

The IChemE Student Design Prize is awarded to the best final year Design Project from Universities across Australia and New Zealand teaching Chemical Engineering.   

The Prize is assessed against weighted criteria across several categories including feasibility, process selection, process development, process and equipment design, safety and environmental and economic considerations.   Each entering University provides their best Design Project so all entries will be a different project topic, usually very relevant to current industry trends.

To support this activity, IChemE is looking for four volunteer judges from diverse backgrounds including a range of industry sectors, project experience and locations/regions. Judges are typically required to complete their reviews from end of April to late August. Time commitment is estimated to be 2-3 days over a 3-4 month period. Judges are encouraged to attend the Chemeca Gala Dinner in Melbourne Tuesday 30 September where the Awards are being presented. Judges are provided with a complimentary ticket to the Chemeca Gala Dinner.

Engineers Against Poverty - Board Member 

IChemE are advertising this role on behalf of Engineers Against Poverty.  Engineers against Poverty was launched in 1998 as a charity and non-profit company by the UK's leading professional engineering institutions (including IChemE). 

Tackling global challenges, such as climate change, inclusive growth and meeting the Sustainable Development Goals, requires more and better-quality infrastructure. However, it is estimated that there is a $15 trillion gap between global infrastructure needs and spending through to 2040. Engineers against poverty work with stakeholders from government, industry and civil society to improve infrastructure governance and improve the rights of construction workers.
