Overview

Join the IChemE London & South East Coast Member Group to discover the world of engineering consultancy—one of the largest employers of chemical engineers in the London region. Learn about the ways consultancies work, the projects they deliver and the varied career opportunities available in this flourishing and dynamic field.

The evening will open with a talk from a representative of the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE), offering an overview of the consulting engineering landscape, how the sector is evolving and the skills currently in demand. This will be followed by interactive breakout sessions exploring project lifecycle and governance, digital tools in design, and a day in the life of a consultant. A panel Q&A will give attendees the opportunity to hear directly from experienced professionals and early-career representatives.

The event will be particularly relevant to experienced engineers who work with consultancies as clients, collaborators or delivery partners; engineers considering a move into consultancy; early-career engineers exploring the breadth of opportunities in the sector; and final-year students considering consultancy or related technical careers. Although consultancy is the main focus, the event will also reflect how consultancy and project-delivery activities often overlap in practice.
