Due to the remoteness of most facilities from the shore, commissioning and operation of an offshore oil and gas installation can be complex and challenging. A multitude of issues and problems can arise during both the hook-up and commissioning and operational phases. From transportation and logistical issues to shutdowns caused by bad weather and offloading operations, the problems can be wide ranging. This presentation aims to provide a feel for the sort of problems that commonly arise during the life of an offshore installation.

Presenter

Chris Park

Chris Park is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers with 40 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry. He has held senior positions on numerous major oil and gas design contracts and has experience of working in most parts of the world, both onshore and offshore. His main areas of expertise are oil and gas separation and gas treatment. He has much experience in the design of separation equipment in the FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading facility) environment and in particular the design of oil and gas separators. He has also been closely involved in the start-up and commissioning of several FPSO’s and platforms during his career. He currently works as an independent process consultant.
