Overview
This webinar is an opportunity for early-career engineers to learn more about the pathway to IChemE chartership. You will hear from chartered professionals and assessors who will explain the chartered professional process, what assessors look for in applications, and share practical tips from their own experiences.
The session will also include time for questions, giving attendees the chance to gain advice and clarity about starting or progressing through the chartered membership journey. Join us online to connect with other early-career engineers from across Australia and New Zealand and gain valuable insights to help you take the next step in your professional development.
Speakers
Fiona O’Connor, Regional Development and Engagement Executive, IChemE
Fiona works closely with universities, students, and industry partners to strengthen the chemical engineering community and support the next generation of engineers. With extensive experience in membership strategy, engagement, and stakeholder relations, Fiona develops programs and initiatives that connect students with industry, support professional development, and help build strong pathways into the profession.
Catherine Muldoon, Regional Development and Engagement Executive – New Zealand, IChemE
Catherine helps build a stronger chemical engineering community by engaging with members across industry and academia. She supports members on their journey toward professional registration, providing guidance and resources to help them progress through the Chartership process.
Aislinn Kowald, Site Project Engineer, Chevron
Aislinn is a site project engineer working on Chevron’s Gorgon LNG Plant on Barrow Island, Western Australia. Since completing a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) at Curtin in 2017, she has developed a broad and well‑rounded engineering career across the LNG project lifecycle.
Her experience spans frontline operational support, FEED and detailed design, commissioning and site‑based brownfield project delivery, giving her a strong understanding of both operational and project environments within complex LNG facilities. Aislinn is passionate about supporting early‑career engineers and actively contributes to mentoring and capability development. She will speak about her journey to chartership, sharing practical lessons learned and insights gained along the way.
Ainslie Just, Chartership Assessor, IChemE
Ainslie joined IChemE as a student member over 50 years ago, and has been a Fellow since 2003. He worked in the industrial chemicals and polymer production sectors for almost 20 years before working in consulting engineering for 20 years, spent mainly in environmental assessment and protection and risk management roles. He is now largely retired.
Ainslie has been volunteering with IChemE in a range of different roles for many years, being at various times: a member of the Joint Chemical Engineering Committees in two states; a member of the Australian Board and Hon Treasurer; a Professional Reviewer for applicants for Chartered Chemical Engineer and Fellow; an assessor for university course accreditations; Hon Registrar; a member of the Standards Panel; Chair of the Registration Subcommittee; and Vice President - Qualifications and a member of the IChemE Board of Trustees.
