Kyriacos Rouvas
Kyriacos is a chemical engineer completing his PhD at the University of Bath. He graduated from The University of Edinburgh in 2023 with an MEng degree and has committed his time and efforts henceforth to chemical engineering and the value it can deliver to the world.
Through his doctoral research, Kyriacos aims to improve the process modelling and optimise the design of cryogenic distillation systems of fusion for power generation fuel recycling. Working with limited validation data, he has created a new advanced holdup model and novel approaches to solve the problem, in the hopes that his results can be used by future fusion engineers and thus contribute to the delivery of fusion.
Beyond his work, Kyriacos dedicates time to various activities aiming to support others. He took on representation roles and brought positive change to his colleagues while mentoring new starters, quickly getting them up to speed in a new organisation and helping them avoid common pitfalls. With the National Early Careers Group, Kyriacos, as last year’s Scotland Events Deputy, had the opportunity to support early career engineers via events and other activities. Furthermore, he contributed to the IChemE Young Engineers Awards for Innovation and Sustainability by judging for the competition.
As the 2026/27 committee Vice-Chair, Kyriacos aims to build on the work of past chairs and aid in making the current and future committees more robust and efficient. Through his efforts, Kyriacos hopes to enable the committee to run at peak performance, ultimately helping early career chemical engineers reach their full potential and enhance their benevolent global impact.
