National Early Careers Group UK and Ireland

Nikita Verma

  • Position Committee member

Nikita is a Process Safety Engineer with a passion for safety and sustainability. She recently graduated from the University of Sheffield with an MEng in Chemical Engineering. Her master’s research project developed an integrated process safety framework for hydrogen production, combining process safety with Life Cycle Assessment.

During her time at university, Nikita enjoyed getting involved in as much as possible. She was a finalist at the IChemE Young Engineers Awards for Innovation and Sustainability in 2024 with The Aqua Drone, a concept she created for improving access to safe drinking water. This led to a research fellowship to help establish her university’s first student-led chemical engineering project. She was also a finalist for the ISPE Emerging Leaders Award after spending a day as Vice President at AstraZeneca through the Girls Takeover initiative, where she raised awareness of topics she was passionate about, such as the gender health gap and impostor syndrome.

She joined the committee to give back to a community that supported her own development. She enjoys planning events so that more early career engineers can hear from others and get involved.

Nikita is the Events Deputy for Northern England and Wales of the NECG UK and Ireland.
