Overview
This talk will discuss environmental impacts of food, considering the whole life cycle of food production and consumption. These will include agriculture, processing, packaging, distribution, storage, retail and food consumption. The environmental impacts across these stages will be illustrated through the examples of sandwiches, chocolates and beer. The emphasis will be on energy consumption, carbon footprint and other relevant environmental impacts. Some social aspects will also be discussed, including what we as consumers can do to reduce the impacts from food.
