Overview
As chemical engineers, whether Chartered or not, we should all make time for our professional development. Continuing professional development (CPD) is undertaken by the member for their own benefit and to benefit their employer, client and customers. CPD activities can come in many forms including such as self-learning, professional activity, training (formal/educational) or work-based learning.
IChemE’s CPD policy was updated in 2019, in 2017 sampling of the membership began to demonstrate conformance with the policy, and as of 1 Jan 2019, mandatory recording of CPD was introduced by Engineering Council for all CEng registrants.
A webinar is held to help members understand the elements of CPD policy and how the policy supports and encourages members in their CPD activities.
Questions for discussion
- What does CPD means in the context of IChemE membership and other registrations?
- What constitutes CPD?
- What are the benefits of CPD?
- What are the key elements of IChemE CPD policy?
- How do these support members’ CPD process?
- What is CPD sampling and what is the expectation if you are asked to take part?
