Overview
JCEC QLD’s September site visit will take members inside the cutting-edge world of Stralis Aircraft, a Brisbane-based aerospace innovator developing hydrogen-electric propulsion systems for zero-emission flight.
Founded with a mission to decarbonise aviation, Stralis is pioneering high-performance, low-operating cost, hydrogen-electric aircraft. Their proprietary fuel cell technology is six times lighter than conventional systems, enabling aircraft to fly up to ten times further than battery-electric alternatives – at half the cost of fossil-fuel-powered planes.
Stralis is currently testing its Bonanza A36-HE technology demonstrator and preparing for its first piloted hydrogen-electric flight. The company is also advancing its B1900D-HE retrofit program, which will deliver a 15-seat aircraft with an 800 km range, targeting commercial service in 2030.
The visit will include:
- an introduction to Stralis Aircraft and its hydrogen-electric propulsion technology
- a guided tour of the test facility and aircraft systems
- insights into the future of sustainable aviation and Stralis’s role in global decarbonisation.
