Overview

Come and join us for a 30 minute talk about the Coleshill site and Food Waste AD, followed by a site tour (weather permitting).

Since 2015, Severn Trent have used local food waste in a state of the art anaerobic digestion facility at Coleshill. The site takes in by-products and surplus from food and drink manufacturing, hospitality, household collections and supermarkets to generate renewable energy, whilst reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill.

The site has the capacity to recycle 48,500 tonnes of food waste per year, taking in both packaged and loose waste, as well as liquids, generating around 20 GWh per year from the 2.4MW CHP capacity.

The process also produces around 39000 tonnes of digestate per year, which is used as a high quality bio-fertiliser.
