Overview
This is the first webinar of three-part series 'Industrial flexibility: From potential to participation'.
Industrial sites often have significant theoretical flexibility, but only part of it can be delivered safely and repeatedly. This session will examine the gap between potential and reliable delivery, covering process constraints, dynamic behaviour, scheduling, uncertainty, controls and the evidence needed before flexibility can be trusted in operation.
This webinar will be useful for process and chemical engineers; plant, energy, utilities and control engineers; engineering managers; academics; flexibility providers; and students. We will cover how to distinguish theoretical capacity from dependable flexibility, identify the technical evidence required, and understand where modelling must be tested against operating reality.

Dr Calvin Tsay, Associate Professor in Computing, Imperial College London
Dr Calvin Tsay is an Associate Professor in Computing at Imperial College London. His research spans optimisation, control, computational methods, machine learning and engineering processes. The proposed session would connect these methods to the challenge of turning theoretical industrial flexibility into safe, testable operating envelopes.
