  • Date To 3rd July 2025

  • Location Online: 12:00 BST. Duration 1 hour.

Overview

The Oil Gas and Energy Transition Special Interest Group (OG&ET SIG) was formed in October 2024 on the recommendation of an Energy CoP study "The Changing Future of the Oil and Gas Industry", which involved feedback from over 200 IChemE members. The purpose of the group is to support IChemE and its members with an interest in the oil and gas sector, today and through the energy transition to net zero.

In it's first six months the OG&ET SIG has grown from 3,500 to 3,700, has organised around ten webinars attended by hundreds of members, and built a 16-strong committee of volunteers. The OG&ET SIG forward plan involves implementing the recommendations in the "Changing Future..." report, including:

  • Policy Engagement
  • Chemical Engineering Education
  • Professional Development at all Career Stages
  • Collaboration with Staff, other Member Groups and Externally

This event will be an opportunity to meet the leadership team, hear about progress and plans, ask question and provide input of the development of the OG&ET SIG. It will also confirm the results of online elections for the Chair and Secretary roles occurring before the meeting. Please come and join the meeting, meet the committee and help shape the future of your group.
