Matthew is a strategy manager for place based planning in the asset strategy and planning department of Severn Trent, one of the UK's largest water companies. He graduated with a MEng in chemical engineering from Loughborough University, achieving Chartered status in 2023.

Matt has worked in numerous water related engineering roles, from plant design to commissioning and research both academically and at scale. His work ranges from advanced emissions reduction technology to simple energy from waste solutions for sustainable sanitation development. He has published on the impact of surfactants on wastewater treatment and presented his research at numerous international conferences. He now works as a strategy manager, investigating novel ways of collaborative planning to address water issues at a catchment scale.
