Michael is an engineer working in battery cell development at Altris, a Swedish start-up commercializing next-generation sodium-ion battery technology.

He holds an MEng (Hons) in chemical engineering from the University of Aberdeen, with a Master’s thesis completed at KTH Royal Institute of Technology focused on lithium-ion battery recycling. Since 2021, he has worked across the full battery value chain, including cell design, process development, and industrialisation.

At Northvolt, Michael contributed to the development of lithium-ion cells from concept to mass production, earning recognition as a Top 10 Inventor in 2023 with 11 patent filings. At Altris, he is now focused on scaling sodium-ion cell production, supporting the company’s shift from materials R&D to full-cell manufacturing.
