Richard Hill is a Chartered Chemical Engineer with over fifty years' experience in water treatment. After graduating from the University of Leeds in 1970 he joined the then Water Research Association and subsequently worked with a number of water and wastewater treatment plant contractors in R&D, commissioning, design, sales and training before setting up his own independent consultancy in 1988.

His involvement in water and wastewater management has covered a variety of industries including municipal water supply, power generation, pharmaceuticals, metal finishing, biotechnology, semiconductor manufacture, oil refining and food and drink. Richard has acted as a Visiting Expert for the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation, and a Visiting Lecturer at UNESCO-IHE. He has taught at UCL, Brunel University, the University Nottingham and the Water Science Institute at Cranfield University.

Richard was a founder member and currently Chairman of the Institution of Chemical Engineers' Water Special Interest Group. He is a former Chairman of the Institution of Chemical Engineers' Professional Formation Forum and former Chairman of the IChemE’s Appeals Panel.
