Overview

The series is intended to raise awareness of global water reuse approaches and challenges which are likely to become even more important in the face of climate emergency. Aquarevo is a unique collaboration between South East Water and Villawood Properties to create a residential development of the future south east of Melbourne. Homes feature first of their kind water saving features - being supplied with drinking, recycled and rainwater with a unique rain to hot water system, smart house based stormwater management, and other digital solutions. The residential development will include onsite decentralised water recycling plant and pressure sewerage system. Charlie and David will provide an overview of the innovative journey South East Water have been on to date with Aquarevo, presenting the innovative water, wastewater and digital solutions being showcased, discuss implementation to date and future plans.

This webinar series is aimed at anyone working in the Water Sector who is interested in water reuse and approaches around the world. This session will give an overview of the journey taken to date by Water Corporation around water supply resilience. Whilst some details of treatment processes will be covered it is into intended to be a deep technical discussion around treatment technologies which we hope to cover in future events.

Presenters

Charlie Littlefair

Charlie Littlefair leads the Liveable Water Solutions group at South East Water which manages the land development, resource recovery, liveability, connections, reliability, growth and strategic asset management functions of the business. Charlie has more than 30 years of international experience in the water and sewerage industry, having worked for both private and public water utility organisations across New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom. Charlie was awarded 2019 Professional Engineer of the Year, Victoria, from Engineers Australia, recognising his outstanding engineering and innovation achievements.

Dr David Bergman

Dr David Bergman is Research and Development Manager with South East Water, a Water Utility in Victoria, Australia. David has a PhD in Chemistry and has worked in a diverse range of organisations and industries – with extensive experience in product development in highly commercial environments from chemicals to detergents, food and now water and wastewater. David has led teams to deliver major business transformations, cost improvements and new product launches. David also works with major universities, manages South East Water's Intellectual Property portfolio and works extensively with their commercial subsidiary iota to bring innovations to a broader market. David has led the technical deliverables of Aquarevo and his interests include alternative water, resource recovery, solar energy options, and development of digital systems.
