Management of Change (MOC) - practical solutions to common problems
15th December 2025
We are pleased to announce the release of a new IChemE Safety Centre publication Management of Change (MOC) - an industry collaboration aimed at identifying the challenges associated with change management in practice.
What is it?
The publication is a refresher on the key concepts of Management of Change (MOC) applicable across a wide range of industrial sectors, and provides a set of tools to help improve the effectiveness of existing MOC processes:
- highlighting commonly experienced MOC process issues
- sharing examples of the consequences of failure to manage change
- troubleshooting recommendations to help improve MOC effectiveness
- a set of self-assessment, audit and troubleshooting checklists for MOC.
Who is it for?
The guide is aimed at helping people at operating sites, from front-line operations and maintenance personnel, through engineering, human resources and procurement, to senior management.
This has been a collaborative effort, and we would like to extend our sincere thanks to Laurence Ledrut and the MOC working group as well as everyone who reviewed and provided valuable comments throughout the process. The diversity of contribution has been essential in shaping this publication.
Available on our website, we encourage you to explore it, share it with your colleagues, and integrate its recommendations into your work. We'd love to hear your feedback.
