Overview

This webinar discusses the Pike River Coal Mine disaster on its 5^th anniversary. On the 19 November 2010 at 15:34, the Pike River coal mine exploded, with 31 workers in the mine. Two workers escaped and the remaining 29 were trapped. Over the next nine days there were three more explosions in the min before it was sealed. The 29 workers were presumed dead. The IChemE Safety Centre webinars have been developed as a tool to share knowledge and information.
