Bowen Huang

Bowen is an innovation consultant at Innovia Technology and holds an MEng in chemical engineering from the University of Cambridge. In his current role, he evaluates the technical and business viability of new innovations across industries such as energy, manufacturing, food, consumer goods and medical products.

 

Bowen is passionate about using chemical engineering to create better products and processes, in terms of cost, functionality, sustainability and health. He is interested in how both start-ups and large corporations innovate and invest in R&D in response to market drivers. He believes that this process is a force for good, and is interested in ways to further improve its economic, environmental and social impacts.

 

Projects that Bowen has worked on include lubricant recycling, biomedical coating materials, and transitioning to sustainable chemical feedstocks. He has done internships at ExxonMobil, the Aviation Impact Accelerator (sustainable aviation fuels) and China’s National Institute of Metrology, China. His Master’s research project was on the use of machine learning to aid process simulation and optimisation. Going forward, he is interested to learn more about biotechnology, materials and energy.
