Process Management & Control

Paul Dickens

Paul Dickens

  • Position Co-opted Committee Member

Paul is a senior engineer within Network Rail focusing on projects relating to SCADA solutions that monitor and control the electrical systems providing traction power to electric trains, such as overhead line and third rail. His projects include supporting the rollout of the National SCADA solution to renew existing legacy systems and solutions to improve electrical safety for track workers when working with or maintaining the traction power systems.

Having previously worked at ABB, Paul delivered DCS solutions from front end design through to commissioning and site acceptance for the process industries (eg oil and gas, chemical, pharmaceutical and food/consumer). His last role within ABB was a consultant engineer looking at advanced ‘value-add’ solutions such as advanced control, alarm management, ergonomics and data utilisation and reporting.

Paul originally joined the Process Management and Control Special Interest Group committee as the ABB representative. He remained in the group after leaving ABB as he believe that process control is a key topic within chemical engineering and should be promoted both within the chemical engineering fraternity and engineering society as a whole.
