Future Water Treatment is a two-day conference led by IChemE’s Water Special Interest Group, taking place on 7–8 September 2027 at the University of Bath.

With a focus on both future technologies for wastewater treatment and production of potable water, the conference will share industry insights, leading research, and engage with early career researchers and practitioners. Speakers from both industry and academia will present and lead discussions regarding best practice, safe operations, new and novel technologies, and much more!

Themes running throughout the programme will include the latest developments in water treatment, the challenges facing the future of water treatment, and process engineering solutions to these problems, with presentation from experts covering topics such as:

  • smart water plants, modelling, and digitalisation
  • innovative approaches for emerging contaminants
  • the role of process safety and a safety culture in the water sector
  • from research to impact: accelerating sustainable solutions for global water challenges.
