ITN Business and IChemE launch ‘Engineering a Sustainable World’

ITN Business and IChemE are proud to announce the production of a news-style programme and digital campaign, ‘Engineering a Sustainable World’.

The United Nations has outlined its Sustainable Development Goals, with climate action and sustainability at the forefront. As the fight against climate change becomes increasingly pressing, chemical and process engineers are tasked with developing innovative technologies and solutions to minimise our environmental footprint.

Hosted by ITN presenter, Lukwesa Burak, from the ITN London Studio, ‘Engineering a Sustainable World’ looks at the role that chemical engineers play in addressing climate change, the vital role of collaboration between industry and academic institutions, cutting-edge technology and innovation, the development of a sustainable workforce, and the crucial need to inspire the next generation of engineers.

The programme features news items, interviews and reporter-led sponsored editorial profiles from the following organisations:

• Ameresco – Ameresco and Bristol City Council are working together on Bristol City Leap, a first of-its-kind project which will increase green energy investment and help towards decarbonising the entire city by 2030.
• CPS - Chemical Processing Services Ltd offers bespoke consultancy services in the field of polymer chemistry, providing support to a wide range of international companies.
• Hancock Hamlin - C-THRU is a 3-year transnational multi-disciplinary research project aiming to understand the current and future emissions from the petrochemical sector and explore how interventions and innovations could minimise them.

• Swansea University - Swansea University's Department of Chemical Engineering focuses on sustainability, research, and collaboration with industry, to equip future chemical engineers.

'Engineering a Sustainable World’ previewed at the IChemE Global Awards on 30 November and premiered on the IChemE YouTube channel at 12pm on 6 December. The programme will be hosted on the ITN Business hub, IChemE’s website, newscientist.com, and will be supported by a digital campaign across LinkedIn, YouTube and newscientist.com.
