Entries invited for IChemE’s 30th Global Awards

12th February 2024

Widely recognised as the world’s most prestigious chemical engineering awards, entries open today (12 February) for IChemE's Global Awards. The awards are free to enter and open to both IChemE members and non-members around the world.

Covering the breadth of the chemical and process industries, 2024 marks the Global Awards’ thirtieth year of celebrating outstanding professional achievement. Championing talent and innovation by people, projects and organisations across all sectors, the Global Awards receives a diverse array of entries, with small teams and multinational organisations both well-represented among the 2023 finalists and winners.

Entries are expertly evaluated by a judging panel of senior IChemE members and industry experts, with societal benefit, sustainability, and environmental impact, coupled to engineering and professional excellence, rated highly in the judging criteria.

New Judging Panel Chair, IChemE Fellow Dr Jamie Cleaver, said: “I’m honoured and excited to be heading up the judging panel for the Global Awards. It’s a unique privilege to be part of the team recognising and promoting chemical engineering excellence. The entry process is straightforward, and selection as a finalist really puts your successes under the spotlight, so I’d encourage everyone to help us applaud the innovative work of our incredibly talented profession.”

IChemE president Nigel Hirst commented: “I was very encouraged by how many of 2023’s finalists were helping to make IChemE’s vision – engineering a sustainable world – a reality, with entries such as accelerating the adoption of green hydrogen, reinventing the way plastics are used and recycled, and developing energy-efficient ship hull coatings. The IChemE Global Awards is a great opportunity to share quality time with your colleagues as well as expanding your professional network - it’s always a night to remember!”

What is chemical engineering?

Chemical, biochemical and process engineering is the application of science, mathematics and economics in the process of turning raw materials into everyday, and more specialist, products. Professional chemical engineers design, construct and manage process operations all over the world. Energy, pharmaceuticals, food and drink, synthetic fibres and clean drinking water are just some of the industry sectors and products where chemical engineering plays a central role.

IChemE

The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) advances chemical engineering's contribution for the benefit of society. We facilitate the development of chemical engineering professionals and provide connections to a powerful network of around 30,000 members in more than 100 countries.

We support our members in applying their expertise and experience to make an influential contribution to solving major global challenges, and are the only organisation permitted to award Chartered Chemical Engineer status and Professional Process Safety Engineer registration.
