Overview
Join us for a tour of Celtic Renewables Biorefinery in Grangemouth, Scotland. This first-of-a-kind plant converts by-products and waste into bio acetone and bio butanol. This demonstrator biorefinery will enable build and operation of larger scale biorefineries – a significant milestone towards growing a sustainable bioeconomy, here in Scotland.
Open to professionals, academics, and students, this event offers valuable insight into the operation of a real-world green chemical plant.
PPE requirements: Visitors must bring their own safety boots. Other PPE (hi-vis, hard hats and safety glasses) will be provided.
Getting there: The Caldon Glen site can be accessed by car and by public transport. Limited parking is available.
If travelling by public transport from Edinburgh or Glasgow, take the train to Falkirk Grahamston. From there take the 3 or 4 bus from Weir Street to Earl's Court. From there it is a five-minute walk to the site.
The cost of the event for non-members of the IChemE go to the Central Scotland Members Group, and are put towards the organisation of future events. Celtic Renewables do not charge for site visits, if you wish to attend for free, please contact them directly.
