Maria is an associate professor and the deputy head of the chemical and energy engineering division. She holds a degree in chemistry, Master's degrees in both chemical engineering and drilling engineering, as well as a PhD in chemical and process engineering.

She joined London South Bank University (LSBU) in 2011 and has since developed a progressive career as an academic and researcher.

Throughout her time at LSBU, Maria has taken on various roles that have enhanced her knowledge and experience in teaching, research, professional practice, administration, management, leadership, and community engagement. Additionally, she has 11 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, specifically in subsurface technologies for well construction.
