Overview

This webinar comes to you from IChemE North West Member Group and Chester and North Wales Member Group, in association with IMechE.

HyNet is a ground breaking industrial decarbonisation project, using a dual approach of carbon capture and storage, and low carbon hydrogen production and distribution to enable existing industry to reduce the CO2 footprint. This project is an ambitious collaboration between a consortium of partners, working closely with government through the Track 1 cluster sequencing process. The low carbon hydrogen will be used to switch industrial users and power generation across the North West away from natural gas.

Speaker

Rachel Sutton, Project Manager, HyNet

Rachel is a Chartered chemical engineer with extensive experience in the chemicals manufacturing industry with ExxonMobil, during which time she held a wide range of technical and leadership roles.

After taking a career break to explore the world’s wilderness, Rachel redirected her skill set and passion into tackling the climate challenge and joined Progressive Energy in 2020 as the Project Manager for HyNet North West. She now manages a consortium of partners in the development and delivery of this ground-breaking and complex decarbonisation project.
