Overview
Join us for this joint Professional Engineering Institution (PEI) event, organised by the regional committees of the IMechE, ICE, IET, IChemE, CIBSE and SMEA, in which our panel will be discussing the state of the engineering profession.
Studies show that future demand for STEM skills in South Yorkshire will rise faster than the expected supply, and the adoption of new technologies will require skills that we don't currently have.
This debate will focus on the promotion of STEM as an enabler of career pathways, the perceived status of engineers, and the efforts we could make to encourage wider participation in all engineering disciplines.
- Who should provide the training of engineers to meet the demands of industry?
 - How can the status of engineers be raised in order to attract wider participation?
 - What will be the impact of AI technologies on the demand for engineering skills?

The panel debate will be followed by questions from the floor, and preceded by a light buffet and networking.
