South West (UK)

About us

The South West Member Group was reformed in 2019 to support chemical engineers across the region through networking, professional development, and shared experience.

With over 1,000 members from Penzance to Gloucester, the group brings together people across a wide area. We use a mix of in-person and virtual events so more members can take part and stay connected.

We welcome participation at all levels. Getting involved is a great way to:

  • meet with other chemical engineers in the region
  • give back to the profession through volunteering
  • build skills beyond your day‑to‑day role, including coaching and mentoring
  • work towards your qualifications and continuing professional development
  • help IChemE better support its members and partners.

Committee vacancies

Application deadline: 23:59 BST, Thursday 30 April 2026.

We currently have vacancies for the following committee roles:

If you are passionate about chemical, biochemical or process engineering in the South West, why not join thousands of other professionals and volunteer with us?

What we do

As the IChemE Member Group for the South West, we aim to:

  • offer relaxed, accessible networking opportunities, online and in person
  • support mentoring for members working towards Chartered Member or Fellow
  • run informative webinars and events
  • promote chemical engineering in local schools and colleges
  • build links with other professional bodies.

Whether you’re early in your career or highly experienced, taking part helps you get more from your IChemE membership through learning, connection, and shared experience.
