Overview
Adaptation is often the forgotten aspect of climate change and the Environment Agency’s work under EPR is helping bring much needed attention to this critical aspect of tackling and managing the ever-present risks from climate change.
In this talk, titled “How Environmental Regulation is Helping Operators adapt to climate change” we will be exploring:
- How can natural hazards affect businesses and environmental protection and what impacts are we already witnessing as a regulator?
- Climate adaptation risk assessments, methodology and key findings from a recent survey across industry sectors
- How the approach to adaptation with EPR is supporting operators to be more resilient to climate change with a detailed look at our guidance and supporting tools
- Our future plans to ensure good adaptation practice is being embedded within site management systems alongside wider requirements to ensure the environment remains fully protected within our rapidly changing climate
