Vel Murugan Vadivelu is a chemical engineer with a Ph.D. in wastewater engineering from The University of Queensland, Australia, and expertise in biological nutrient removal from wastewater and environmental engineering. His research interests are mainly involved in the field of water treatment processes, particularly in biological wastewater treatment. He has a strong interest and actively working on biological nutrient removal using granular biomass. The research generally focuses on understanding microbial characteristics and their involvement in wastewater treatment using various analytical tools. He is also involved in research related to the treatment and management of biosolid waste from wastewater treatment systems. One of the objectives of this study is to explore the potential to increase the economic value of biosolid waste, particularly granular biomass. He also focuses on the improvement of the characteristics of microalgae to produce microalgae with good settling ability with the aim of transforming the morphological structure of microalgae into granules.
