  • Location Online: 18:30 MYT. Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes.

Overview

The production of 1 metric ton (MT) of crude palm oil (CPO) results in a substantial 3.5 MT of Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME). Presently, the treatment methods employed successfully achieve a Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) of 20 mg/L, in compliance with the standards set by the Department of Environment. However, envision the possibilities if we could fully reuse this water. By implementing a recycling system, we could attain a remarkable 50% reduction in water footprint. As part of an ongoing project, a comprehensive system is being developed to effectively treat POME and recycle it for utilization within the mill, thus contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly process.
