Overview

Igloo Vision is a shared immersive space company. Stepping into an Igloo immersive space is a bit like stepping into a giant virtual reality headset – except you can get whole groups inside, so it’s always a shared experience. In an Igloo immersive space, you can display and engage with practically any type of digital content, including for engineering, projects, operations and maintenance disciplines.

Important use cases in engineering include:

  • Projects: Visualisation of an immersive life-size greenfield or brownfield asset better enables problems and errors such as clashes and human factors issues to be quickly identified and removed as well as providing early training on the future asset. In particular, it gives improved 3D CAD model reviews for better evaluation of a 3D model to ensure accuracy, stakeholder alignment, and to identify potential issues before manufacturing or construction, making them much cheaper to address early.
  • Operations: Remote support centres can better support plant issues by immersing in lifelike plant environment as well as better work preparation and execution - avoiding many expensive on-site surveys. Modern digital twin software can also be run in these immersive environments allowing other engineering data or even live sensor data to be superimposed for improved diagnostics.
  • Capability Training: Operators can practice difficult procedures such as start-ups and shut downs in a realistic but safe and convenient environment, reducing errors and safety risks when they have to do it for real. Full generic and interactive simulators encompassing field valve/button tasks and control room operations are also available for training apprentice technicians or even advanced crew resource management skills for experienced teams.

Speaker

Jake Rowland, Head of Global Business Development and Presales, Igloo Vision

Jake has been part of the Igloo story since the very early days, working freelance on events before joining full-time as employee number five. Since then, he's had an active role in product development and productisation. And, as Head of Business Development, he's landed many of the biggest global deals.

A particular source of pride is Igloo Vision's credentials in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) sector. It’s an area of the businesses Jake has spearheaded, working with Igloo Vision technology teams to integrate Igloo systems with all the AEC design and visualisation tools, and signing-up clients like AtkinsRéalis, Lendlease, Skanska, BAM and Hudson Pacific.
