Sean is an inspector of health and safety in the energy division at the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), and an associate lecturer in process safety and operational integrity at the University of Surrey.

Sean has been in regulatory and technical safety roles, supporting the oil and gas industry, for 20 years. He has been a Professional Process Safety Engineer since 2015. 

He is particularly interested in the practical management of process safety risks, such as when something is broken, educating and engaging non-process safety professionals and looking at the holistic improvement of all areas of process safety.

Sean was the Safety and Loss Prevention Special Interest Group's chair from 2022 to 2025.
