Dr Hoseyni is a lecturer in process safety and loss prevention in the School of Chemical, Materials and Biological Engineering at the University of Sheffield, UK. He completed his PhD in energy engineering at Politecnico di Milano in 2021. His research focuses on risk assessment, process safety and resilience in the net zero energy transition, with particular emphasis on enhancing the Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS) of complex engineering systems. He has research experience across diverse engineering domains with a strong focus on safety, including structural safety, nuclear safety and process safety.

He specialises in the development and application of advanced computational techniques for risk and resilience assessment, predictive maintenance and decision-making under uncertainty, particularly in decarbonising applications. Endorsed by the Royal Academy of Engineering as Global Talent (Exceptional Promise) in chemical and process engineering, he leads multidisciplinary research projects that provide safety-driven enhancements and risk-informed decision-making tools to support the safer design, operation and management of engineering systems.
