On Friday 27th March, the Safety & Loss Prevention Special Interest Group (S&LP SIG) ran a process safety workshop for Chemical Engineering students, this time hosted by Brunel University.

This longstanding event brings together students from Brunel, Queen Mary (QMUL) and London South Bank (LSBU) universities for a day of learning about process safety, engineering careers and practicing HAZOP.  It is led by volunteer IChemE members, organised by Panos Topalis (Senior Principal Consultant at DNV and a member of the S&LP SIG's committee).

Similar events are occuring this year at Bath and Lancaster.

Between the various events, IChemE helps a great many chemical engineering students each year to improve their comprehension of process safety and provides a taste of its application in industry.  These events require the time of numerous volunteers, who deserve thanks alongside the organising university staff for their contribution.
