UK HSE Consultation: PFAS

UK HSE Consultation: PFAS

1st September 2025

The UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has published a UK REACH 'Annex 15' restriction report and opened a 6-month public consultation on the use of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in firefighting foams (FFF).

They are suggesting restrictions on sale and use of PFAS in FFF, with sector-specific transition periods.

To inform the opinion-forming stage of the restriction process, a six-month public consultation has been launched.

For more information, or to participate in the consultation, visit the HSE website here: PFAS in firefighting foam (FFF) restriction proposal - Health and Safety Executive - Citizen Space

Responses must be received by 18 February 2026.
