Overview

The webinar will discuss the development of a sustainable green process for the production of glycidol from glycerol the byproduct of biodiesel production. The development process from lab scale to demonstration pilot scale will be described together with the plans for commercial scale production in 2019. Glycidol has the potential to replace current more hazardous petrochemically derived epoxides. The project recently won the Akzo Nobel Imagine Chemistry competition.

By introducing key concepts in sustainable process design the webinar will appeal to all chemical engineers engaged in product design, plant design and operations across all sectors and including research. It will also be helpful to students commencing their design and research projects.

Speaker

Sean Hardiman of Green Lizard Technologies (GLT). GLT is a spin out from QUB providing a gateway to the University for the development of green solutions to global problems. The glycidol project is a Joint Venture between Green Lizard Technologies, Felda Global Ventures and Dixie Chemical Co. Sean is the GLT Project Leader.
