Overview

The Freshwater Change Planetary Boundary considers Blue Water - water available in the environment in surface and ground water and Green water - water avilable to plants. Both Blue and Green Water PBs are transgressed - and yet we live in a world in which billions of people lack access to safe water. Globally, some 80% of freshwater extraction is for agriculture, and some 10% for the energy sector. The water industry are a key influencer of the Freshwater Change PB as stewards of the water cycle. As a globally leading voice in the water sector, author and systems thinker, Gustaf will make the case why as water professionals we need to fully comprehend the water-climate-energy-food-economics-lifestyle connections.
