Overview

The land system planetary boundary takes stock of how much forested land remains as a percentage of original forest. As stewards of the water cycle, the water sector has an incredible opportunity to influence this planetary boundaries in the way we manage and regenerate water catchments - with many downstream co-benefits.

In this webinar we will learn about some of the work on catchment solutions underway by Scottish Water, Scotland's water and wastewater utility.

Speaker

Elise Cartmell, Net Zero General Manager, Scottish Water

Elise is the net zero general manager at Scottish Water focused on delivering Scottish Water's ambition of beyond net zero across all activities. Elise joined Scottish Water in April 2016 as the chief scientist. This followed a career in academia at Cranfield University where she was professor of water technology and director of environmental technology.

Prior to joining Cranfield in 2000, she was a research scientist at WRc plc. Elise is a chartered chemist with a BSc (Hons) from The University of Edinburgh and a PhD from Imperial College, London. She is a fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the Royal Society of Chemistry. She is on the UK Water Industry Research (UKWIR) Board, Scottish Water Horizon Board and is a trustee at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.
