  • Date From 21st November 2019
  • Date To 21st November 2019
  • Price Free
  • Location The Beacon Museum, West Strand, Whitehaven CA28 7LY

The AGM is a chance to put your name forward and join our organising committee. Whilst we are the smallest member group in the UK, we are one of the most active and being a part of our team offers great Continued Professional Development experience.

After the formalities of the AGM, we are delighted that our keynote speech will be delivered by Rebecca Weston, who is a Board Member of the Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership. Rebecca will share her insights on the development of the Local Industrial Strategy for Cumbria and how it will shape our lives as Chemical Engineers in the area. The Local Industrial Strategy aims to maximise Cumbria’s economic opportunities and address those challenges that will reduce our growth potential.

Speaker

Rebecca Weston, Board Member of the Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership

Rebecca has wide experience across Sellafield Ltd, having held senior leadership positions in Operations, Technical and Commercial. As Enterprise Director, she is responsible for Strategy and Planning, as well as Corporate Affairs and Transformation.

She also leads the innovation and research and development programmes, provides the facilities and business units with technical support and ensures the business makes and creates optimum technology choices, while developing the science, technical and engineering skills and capabilities needed now and for the future.

Rebecca has a BA in Physics from Oriel College, University of Oxford, where she also won ‘blues’ in hockey, football and cricket. She also holds a PhD in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and is an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA), Leadership, Business and Management in which she achieved a Distinction.
