Webinar: Low Carbon Hydrogen Plant Digital Twins

Webinar: Low Carbon Hydrogen Plant Digital Twins
  • Date From 29th April 2022
  • Date To 29th April 2022
  • Price Free of charge, open to all.
  • Location Online: 09:00 BST. Duration: 1 hour.

Overview

Digital Twins have long been heralded as the energy industry panacea. Millions of decisions concerning the design, construction and operation of real-world assets will be taken based on their digital twins. Some digital twins in the gas industry will represent a simple component. Others span entire facilities – or systems.

Green (or clean, low carbon) hydrogen is one of the key technologies on the road to decarbonisation. In the coming decade we will see increasing cost competitiveness for green hydrogen from electrolysis by improving efficiency and decreasing capex. In areas with abundant renewable resources and low-priced electricity, the costs of green hydrogen will drop even further.

Join global risk management consultancy DNV and UK gas distribution network SGN as they share their work to support broader energy industry objectives to ignite innovation across industry through initiatives such as digital twins - unifying two exciting concepts that are fundamental to the success of our energy transition and pathway towards net zero.

DNV will share how their framework for the qualification and assurance of digital twins – showcased on a previous IChemE webinar – is being put to use on hydrogen projects to highlight how such technology can yield commercial, societal and operational benefits.

SGN are currently building the H100-Fife concept in Fife, Scotland - a world-first green hydrogen-to-homes network that will demonstrate 100% green hydrogen heating in homes for the first time. They will share how they see digital twins shaping the future of their business and how the successful integration of a working twin on a green hydrogen initiative through H100 Fife will help to position the future UK gas industry- both with respect to the use of cutting edge solutions to enable decarbonisation on our journey towards net zero; and the enablement of a truly “whole systems” approach.
