Overview

In this webinar, Arsalan Afkhami will present the challenge of developing a household water treatment (HWT) system that can provide enough clean water (>50 litres per person per day) for different uses to avoid cross-contamination. In the industry, chemical dosing and coagulation/flocculation are commonly used to settle particles or to make the filtration step more efficient. This requires the knowledge of water chemistry as well as continuous monitoring. However, this is not feasible for decentralized systems at a low-cost. Similarly, sand filters are common in the water industry, while the large footprint and high maintenance requirements make them unsuitable for HWT systems, or MF/UF membranes have a high capital and operation costs. In this webinar, the solution that has been offered will be discussed.
