Presentation: The Climate challenge in our water sector – a systems problem in need of urgent solutions. Are we, the engineers, ready to challenge our sector to plan and deliver practical solutions?
Maria is a Chartered Civil Engineer with over 23 years of industry experience specialising in asset management, infrastructure investment planning and climate change in the water sector.
Maria is a Director for Climate Change and Sustainability and a national expert on decarbonisation in the water sector. Maria has worked with most UK water companies, Water UK, regulators Ofwat, the Environment Agency, Government departments and the supply chain to help influence policy, shape strategies and implementing practical solutions on the ground.
Maria has been the lead technical co-author of PAS 2080 and co-author of the HM Treasury Infrastructure Carbon Review. She is a member of the Green Construction Board, the international FIDIC Global Carbon Collaboration Initiative and involved in various Industry Forums to help shape the infrastructure decarbonisation agenda, including the ICE Carbon community advisory board.
Maria is a visiting lecturer on sustainability and asset management practices at Cranfield University and a member of the Industrial Advisory Panel.
