Benjamin Franklin said “Change is the only constant in life”. In process safety we must ensure we adequately assess and manage the change to avoid intolerable or unintended risk. This years marks significant anniversaries of two incidents that are directly linked to a lack of management of change. It is 50 years since the Flixborough incident and 40 years since the Bhopal Tragedy.

Now, more than ever, as we embrace major industry changes with the energy transition, it is critical that we lead the change to a safer world. If we don’t, we will be destined to embed incidents in our future. What will you do to lead the change?
