Yasmin Ali, Project Development Manager (Batteries), RWE
Yasmin is a Chartered Chemical Engineer dedicated to developing renewable energy projects, and the author of Power Up: An Engineer’s Adventures into Sustainable Energy. Having worked in coal and gas fired power stations and oil and gas, Yasmin transitioned away from fossil fuels into more sustainable energy systems over the course of her career – working on heat networks, energy innovation funding, green hydrogen project development, and now battery project development for RWE. In addition, Yasmin has given over a hundred talks about engineering and energy, written for the BBC and Metro, and featured on TV and radio.
Richard Boocock, Director and Principal Consultant/Industrial Professor, Boocock Advisory Ltd/University of Birmingham
Richard joined Air Products in 1982 with a chemical engineering degree from Birmingham, staying for 39-years. He has experience in all aspects of industrial gases and hydrogen. During his career he has navigated a number of technology and end market developments which have impacted the application of engineering skills to varying degrees. He holds an Industrial Chair of Engineering Leadership at the University of Birmingham, is Visiting Fellow to the Dean's Office at Henley Business School, is a Member of the Freedom of the Worshipful Company of Engineers, and holds a number of board roles.
Nasiru Mohammed, Principal Engineering Manager, Formerly LRQA
Nasiru started out as an aspiring oil and gas focused project chemical engineer working predominantly in offshore installation new builds, with the occasional input into onshore petrochem plants. During the downturn, he turned to project engineering management then pivoted to the nuclear sector with a focus on new builds. He is currently serving as roving principal engineering manager still on nuclear new builds projects.
