Date set for inaugural Hazards Australasia

27th March 2013

IChemE stages its first Hazards Australasia process safety conference on 26-27 November in Perth, Western Australia.

The event, taking place at the Hyatt Regency, will feature a mix of invited speakers and peer-reviewed oral and poster presentations, alongside an exhibition of products and services.

The call for papers has been issued with abstracts invited under the following headings:

• lessons learned from major hazard incidents
• management of abnormal operations
• process safety design and inherently safer design
• regulatory compliance and legislation
• human factors
• asset integrity and extending the operating lifespan of infrastructure
• safety management systems
• education and training
• process safety key performance indicators

IChemE ceo David Brown says that he expects the event to prove as popular as other Hazards events: “We first staged the Hazards conference in the UK back in 1960 and the UK event is still growing. There has been a real appetite for a similar process safety conference in South-East Asia too and Hazards Asia Pacific has quickly emerged as a key event on the region’s process safety calendar.

“We’ve put together a strong technical committee to help shape the first Hazards Australasia event and had lots of interest from industry. IChemE has a stellar reputation as a technical conference organiser in both Europe and South-East Asia and we’re committed to scaling up our events activity throughout Australasia too,” adds Brown.

The call for papers submission deadline is Friday 5 July 2013. To discuss sponsorship and exhibition opportunities please contact April Hinde or visit the event website.
