IChemE launches new National Early Careers Groups to support the next generation of chemical engineers

8th July 2025
IChemE is delighted to announce the launch of two brand-new National Early Careers Groups, designed to support and connect members in the early stages of their professional journey.
The National Early Careers Group Australasia and National Early Careers Group Malaysia and South East Asia have been created in response to the growing need for tailored support, networking, and development opportunities for graduates and young members in those regions starting out in their chemical engineering careers.
The new groups will work alongside the existing National Early Careers Group UK and Ireland.
To ensure that IChemE members under the age of 35 can immediately benefit from the resources, events, and peer connections these groups offer, eligible members have automatically been added to these groups. Find your NECG community on IChemE Connect.
The National Early Careers Groups will provide opportunities for members to:
- develop their personal contacts and networks
- connect with a supportive community of chemical, biochemical and process engineers in the early stages of their careers
- support continuous professional development through technical and professional activities
- represent topical current issues within the chemical engineering field.
Eligible members of each group are also invited to join the committee of each group, to play a key role in shaping events and initiatives to support their peers, gain valuable leadership experience and expand their professional network.
We encourage all early career members to get involved in their respective community, make connections, and help shape the future of chemical engineering.
To find out more about the new groups, visit the Communities section of our website.

What is chemical engineering?
Chemical, biochemical and process engineering is the application of science, mathematics and economics in the process of turning raw materials into everyday, and more specialist, products. Professional chemical engineers design, construct and manage process operations all over the world. Energy, pharmaceuticals, food and drink, synthetic fibres and clean drinking water are just some of the industry sectors and products where chemical engineering plays a central role.
IChemE
The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) advances chemical engineering's contribution for the benefit of society. We facilitate the development of chemical engineering professionals and provide connections to a powerful network of around 32,000 members in more than 100 countries.
We support our members in applying their expertise and experience to make an influential contribution to solving major global challenges, and are the only organisation permitted to award Chartered Chemical Engineer status and Professional Process Safety Engineer registration.
