IChemE Trustee elections

IChemE Trustee elections

1st April 2026

Following the close of the call for nominations on 3 March 2026, the Nominations Committee considered the applications against the person specifications set out in the Trustee role profiles and confirmed the candidates suitable for the roles for which they applied.

One eligible nomination was received for each of the Trustee roles due to become vacant at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 9 June 2026. As a result, no election will be necessary this year and candidates for these uncontested seats will be formally elected at the June AGM.

  • Joan Cordiner – Deputy President
  • Wadoud Hazineh – Vice President (Member Engagement)
  • Iqbal Essa – Ordinary Member
  • Mary Stewart – Ordinary Member

All successful candidates will be formally elected and take up their seats with effect from the AGM, which is to be held virtually on 9 June 2026.

The election of Joan Cordiner as Deputy President will create a casual vacancy in the role of Vice President (Learned Society) which will be addressed by the Board of Trustees in due course.

What is chemical engineering?

Chemical, biochemical and process engineering is the application of science, mathematics and economics in the process of turning raw materials into everyday, and more specialist, products. Professional chemical engineers design, construct and manage process operations all over the world. Energy, pharmaceuticals, food and drink, synthetic fibres and clean drinking water are just some of the industry sectors and products where chemical engineering plays a central role.

IChemE

The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) advances chemical engineering's contribution for the benefit of society. We facilitate the development of chemical engineering professionals and provide connections to a powerful network of around 32,000 members in more than 100 countries.

We support our members in applying their expertise and experience to make an influential contribution to solving major global challenges, and are the only organisation permitted to award Chartered Chemical Engineer status and Professional Process Safety Engineer registration.
