Woodside COO to deliver Hazards Australasia keynote

Vince Santostefano, chief operating officer of Australia’s largest independent oil and gas operator, Woodside, is a confirmed keynote speaker for IChemE’s inaugural Hazards Australasia conference in Perth this November.
Santostefano is a civil engineer with more than 33 years experience in the oil and gas sector working across a range of disciplines including drilling, operations and structural / civil design.
In his current role as chief operations officer, Santostefano oversees the producing business units and the production function covering the operations of all Woodside’s producing facilities. Santostefano will be focusing his Hazards Australasia presentation on process safety and leadership.
Woodside produces around 900,000 barrels of oil each day and has been operating one of the worlds’ premier liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities, the North West Shelf, for 28 years and is recognised as an Australian leader in oil and gas production. With numerous operations in Australia, Woodside also has international assets that include deepwater production facilities in the Gulf of Mexico, acreage in the USA, Brazil, Peru, Republic of Korea and the Canary Island.
IChemE’s Director Australasia, Peter Slane says that Woodside is a major employer of IChemE members and being one of Australia’s largest oil and gas companies, recognises that its safety approach is critical to the success of its business.
“Woodside is also a member of IChemE’s Safety Centre that provides a ‘one stop shop’ to access resources where the sharing of experiences and lessons learnt from safety incidents and accidents can benefit the process safety industry.”
Santostefano will be joined by National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) ceo Jane Cutler who will also be speaking at the event.
Hazards Australasia is an international process safety conference focusing on the Australasian chemical and process industries. Themes include lessons learned from major hazard incidents; management of abnormal operations; process safety design and inherently safer design; regulatory compliance and legislation; human factors; asset integrity and extending the operating lifespan of infrastructure; safety management systems; education and training; and process safety key performance indicators.
